Managing Director

James has grown Meon Valley Travel to reflect his own values. The antithesis of corporate blandness, he is an especially driven individual and profoundly knowledgeable.
James has always been a high flyer. At 23 he co-founded one of Europe’s most successful travel insurance and worldwide emergency medical assistance companies. Fifteen years later he was Managing Director of world-class insurance broker AON before indulging his passion for travel by acquiring the Meon Travel Agency business from First Choice plc.

Now reputably one of the most respected executives in the travel industry, James guides our relentless growth delivering exceptional quality services renowned throughout the travel world. He sits on the £3.2billion Advantage Travel Centre’s Board as Non-Executive Director and is a past Chairman of the Advantage Focus Partnership itself commanding £1.2billion Corporate turnover.

A keen pilot himself, James’s experience in the travel and assistance world is encyclopaedic and his passion intoxicating.

Assistance and Leisure Director

All-round problem solver Karen is Director of the Assistance and Leisure divisions and has been at the heart of the company since joining as a Saturday girl in the retail shop for her father, the then finance director, in 1978. Nurturing talent, deploying technology and harnessing supplier relationships consumes most of Karen’s time but she still enjoys diving off to explore the latest hot destinations at the drop of a hat.

Karen has spent her life getting under the skin of the travel industry, understanding what makes things happen and how to create the unthinkable. Commercial savvy and a love for people and family mix to form a unique talent and an inspirational manager.

Corporate Director

Patron Saint of Corporate Travel, Colin was responsible for bringing Meon Valley Business Travel (formerly QBT) to the Meon family in 2009. As Director of the Group Corporate business he is one of the most resourceful, focused and passionate people in travel and a privilege to work with. A true genius with technology and business applications, he is one of the finest and most charismatic skilled business leaders in the industry. Colin lends a deeper more personal understanding of clients’ needs and how to gain best value from the industry for our customers. His advice is sought by airlines, technology providers and peers and is happily shared by one of the travel world’s good guys.

This competitive spirit drives a tech savvy people person with thorough organisational skills and a deep seated command of world-class travel solutions both on and off line. Lisa is qualified, professional, gifted and thorough. She joined us from an accounting practice on a temporary basis but we refused to let her go – she’s that good! Ed has revolutionised Meon’s digital presence bringing a whole new dimension to both Leisure and Corporate services and communication. Fluent in hashtags re-tweets digicomms and CRM, Ed brings a wealth of experience originating from building corporate Intranets for blue-chip corporations in the City for Williams Lea New Media through to pioneering electronic banking with Geneva Digital and Xenos before realising his creative talents at Herringbone Design.

An active cyclist and kitesurfer, Ed can be found pedaling, running or powering straight into the next challenge and his unique mix of digital media communications, design and travel delivers a compelling cocktail to our customers’ fingertips.

Non-Executive Chairman

Peter is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a member of its Corporate Finance Faculty and part of its Special Interest Group on Tourism and Hospitality.

In 1982 Peter set up an accountancy practice (now Warrener Stewart) focused on the commercial requirements of its clients. After, 25 years of continuous year on year growth, Peter retired from practice leaving the firm in the capable hands of five partners.

After three years of retirement, during which time he and his wife, Angela, travelled round the world three times, Peter teamed up as a consultant with a handful of entrepreneurial businesses which he admired and on whose objectives he felt he could make a positive impact.

With the successful achievement of those objectives marking the completion of his assignments, Peter is now focused on two remaining sectors in which he has now taken on formal directorships. One of these is with Meon Valley Travel where, in April 2018, Peter accepted our invitation to become Non-Executive Chairman.


Business Travel Manager

Never quiet, never bored, never without his team around him, you never see the wood on his desk for the wealth of papers and notes from all the people he’s helping, managing or helping manage.

If you cut Kevin’s arm, he bleeds Meon Valley Business Travel and the team rely upon him. He understands people and has a profound knowledge second to none for airlines, fares and systems. His professionalism is legendary. Never known to drop the ball and often there to catch for others, his weekend escape is his Leicester City season ticket.

Having joined us from a great grounding at the Co-op, Julie is good solid fun and a lovely person. We first met her many moons ago on an educational in Mexico and we wanted her to join the team ever since. She has got great attitude, she is always up for a challenge and first to volunteer whenever extra help is needed. She has excelled as a business champion within the team and offered great guidance and counsel with common sense and commercial savvy at all levels of the business. Newly promoted to Travel Manager she deserves every ounce of her hard fought success.

Best friend with our Becs, Sarah is a great listener who cracks on with the job, takes everything on board and loves to pick up new skills. She was dedicated enough to move half way across the country for her work and is one to always look on the positive side and see the best in any situation.

Luke joins us after carrying out an apprenticeship role as a Web Developer and completing a Level 3 ICT Professional Competence course. Ideally suited to the IT & Business Support Trainee position, he is passionate about diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and end users problems and will be working under the one-to-one tutelage of Kelly Doherty.

Luke enjoys watching and playing Sunday football and is a season ticket holder for Nottinghamshire Cricket Club.

A prolific writer and master of the English language, David’s knowledge of routes, aircraft configurations and event destinations is the stuff of legend. He has a broad church of expertise having worked in the PR and events industry for many years, leading his own team and supporting individuals and event management companies finding exceptional value for all their corporate, conference and travel needs. From anywhere to anywhere in the world, juggling multi-national complex itineraries, David’s mind works quicker than a computer and lives and breathes professionalism. Kirsty is responsible for training together with the systems and procedures that accompany the increasing demands of managing and institutionally sharing knowledge. Greatly respected initially as a trouble shooter through all departments with the challenges that accompany exponential growth the word ‘no’ simply doesn’t exist in her vocabulary and Kirsty is relentless in the pursuit of nurturing talent. Jude comes in to her own in the toughest situations with an intuitive skill for containing crisis blended with common sense when sense is not always common. A committed team player, driven and focused, Jude is one who leads by example and always delivers. She cut her teeth working for an emerging long haul tour operator in the mid 80’s travelling widely to all corners of the globe. Philippa escorted press trips to places that were just opening up which included Madagascar and the Galapagos Islands.

Travel is all about contrasts and Philippa enjoys the more intrepid experiences such as trekking in Nepal, cycling in Indo-China and sailing in the Adaman as much as staying in some of the best resorts in the world.

Lucie became passionate about travelling from a very young age when she used to holiday in Jamaica at her Auntie’s house. There she took in all the colours, smells and way of life and that was it, she was hooked and wanted to see the rest of the world.

Since then she has worked for two high street agencies – one multiple and one independent, which both gave her a great start in the industry and huge amounts of knowledge for finding that perfect holiday for her clients. During her career, she has been lucky enough to visit some fantastic destinations and experienced many adventures such as dolphin watching in The Gambia, snorkelling in Mexico and taking in the view from the top of Atlantis The Palm in Dubai. She has travelled throughout most of Europe including Turkey and Tunisia, experienced the flavours of the Caribbean such as Antigua and Barbados and enjoyed city life in Singapore. Abigail started with us as our Saturday Girl and having achieved qualifications in Travel and Tourism and Business after three years of study, she is gaining hands-on experience as Trainee in the Leisure department. Away from work she has danced Ballroom and Latin for England and is happiest capturing the places she has visited in photograph.

Joining the Marketing Team after working at ClubVentos in Brazil, Ollie’s digital marketing career has seen him work for multi-million pound companies to small businesses fulfilling his constant desire to learn new skills.  What he doesn’t know about web design, advertising, email and digital marketing isn’t worth knowing.  In his first marketing position undertaking a Marketing Internship at Shore Watersports, West Wittering, this location enabled him to participate in his passion of windsurfing whilst learning the key foundation skills in marketing and social media.

I have visited and played so many of the beautiful courses in Southern Spain and enjoy creating some fabulous golfing Itineraries for friends and groups.
