Carolyn started her business from scratch 30 years ago in March 1987. In order to comply with the ABTA rules Carolyn sat and passed the relevant exams in London and was then deemed to be ‘qualified’ to open her own agency. As soon as the agency received its ABTA membership the business went from strength to strength. Two years later the business gained IATA membership. Then when the airlines started to cut the commission they paid, Carolyn decided to add another string to her bow by becoming a small tour operator and in January 2001 she launched La Joie de Vivre, a collection of luxury hotels all personally recommended by her. Thirty years on Carolyn is still passionate about travel and still derives huge satisfaction in having clients who return from their holidays thrilled with their experiences and eager to start planning the next one.
