Holiday makers are warned that e-cigarettes should not be taken to Thailand with a number of Britons being fined or arrested. The import, export and sale of e-cigarettes and related equipment has been in place since 2014 however it is seems holidaymakers are still widely unaware.
The Foreign Office said: “These items are likely to be confiscated and you could be fined or sent to prison for up to 10 years if convicted. The sale or supply of e-cigarettes and similar devices is also banned and you could face a heavy fine or up to five years imprisonment if found guilty. Several British Nationals have been arrested for possession of vaporisers and e-cigarettes.”
With the significant rise in use of e-cigarettes in the UK it is in issue that is only set to increase if holidaymakers aren’t made aware before they travel.
