Changes to visa requirements can be hard to keep up with but two have been announced recently that we wanted to make our customers aware of.

Introduction of fingerprint collection for China visas

At the moment all business, tourist, family and academic visas can be processed through the post. However, with the introduction of mandatory fingerprint collection, from the 1st November 2018 all travellers will have to attend one of the 3 application centres in person – London, Edinburgh and Manchester.

Viasa are valid for 2 years and are multiple entry so if you know you will be travelling to China soon, it is recommended that you apply before the deadline.

Visitors to Turkey will have to apply for e-visas in advance

Following the decision to remove the self-service e-visa kiosks and wi-fi areas in Turkish airports from October 29, visitors will now have to apply for e-visas in advance of travel according to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s website.

Up to now, visitors without a visa have been able to apply for an e-visa from one of the airport kiosks on arrival in the country.

Visas for travel to Turkey are valid for multiple stays for up to a maximum of 90 days in an 180 day period. An e-visa costs US $20 which can be paid for by credit or debit card and can be applied for up to three months in advance of travel.

To obtain a visa, travellers must go to the official Republic of Turkey’s e-visa website, evisa.gov.tr.
